Readings by the Pio Rajna


CIMG1578CIMG1594In the conference hall of the Villa Altieri was organized the meeting “Readings from the Sonnets of Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli,” in collaboration with the Pio Rajna – Study Centre for Research literature, linguistics and philology.
Gioacchino Belli, who lived during the difficult period of political and social upheavals of the eighteenth century Rome, is the first poet who uses in his Sonnets the dialect of the Roman people to denounce his real conditions of life and describe the customs and mentality. Listening to the voice of the poet by reading some of his sonnets in Italian and in English was a further opportunity offered to partners to help them learn about the world of the roman folk tradition of the period
