Project coordinator

The Municipal Public Library in Piekary Slaskie is definitely a facility facing up to the challenges of the 21st century. We are supporting the development of information society; moreover, we recognize and fulfill educational and cultural needs of the local people. We are an institution of social confidence, having a strong influence on society. We wish our readers used not only books or magazines but also could take part in a self – development and self – realization processes, through all forms of activity the library offers to them. We hold regular activities such as educational meetings, discussion panels and meetings with people of culture, Poetry Evenings. There is a Literature Club. For those who like stamps, there is a philatelic club, for the film lovers – a movie club. We organize literature, poetry and photography workshops & contests, too. We are also very proud of regular painting exhibitions held in the Library gallery annually; each accompanied by musical performances.
In order to meet our customers’ needs and accompany their social life, the Library organizes and takes part in various educational projects (national & international) aimed at people of different ages and demands. We took part in the Youth in Action Program and Grundtvig Program. We actively participate in the international NAPLE Sister Libraries Program.
We are one of the hundred European libraries taking part in the prestigious “Europeana Awareness” initiative, approved by the European Commission. The library has a Quality Certificate awarded by The Society for Supporting Local Activity in Warsaw for, among others, the actions for activation of the local community and building civil society. We are taking part in the “Digital Poland of Equal Opportunities” program, which focuses on digital education of grown-up Poles in their local environment.
